Me 'Tarzan,' you Lawless
By Nellie Andreeva
The WB Network's "Tarzan" is getting a strong hero pedigree.

Sep. 09, 2003

Lucy Lawless, best known for her role as mighty warrior Xena, has been tapped to co-star in the WB's new drama about the
jungle boy's adventures in New York, playing Kathleen Clayton, a publishing magnate and Tarzan's (Travis Fimmel) aunt.

Additionally, Lawless has inked a development deal with the network for a series project targeted for fall 2004.

"Lucy has a tremendous sense of humor, warmth and grace," WB entertainment president Jordan Levin said. "She has a fun,
larger-than-life personality that will shape the character of Kathleen Clayton as she makes it her own, and that is what attracted
us to her for future development."

"Tarzan" reunites Lawless with the show's executive producer Laura Ziskin and co-executive producer Eric Kripke. Lawless did
a cameo in the Ziskin-produced 2002 feature "Spider-Man" and co-stars in the upcoming "Boogeyman," co-written by Kripke.
Also executive producing the series are David Gerber and P.K. Simonds.

Lawless toplined the hit syndicated action series "Xena: Warrior Princess" for six years after originating the role on "Hercules:
The Legendary Journeys."

The actress, who next appears in DreamWorks' "The Ugly Americans," is repped by Endeavor, Original Management and
attorney Jeanne Newman.
