Oh puh-lease! I hear a local version of hit American TV series Queer Eye For The Straight Guy is being planned.
I can't help but think it'll be a weak imitation of the US version, currently on TV2.

The show will be shot by an independent production company which I hear is drag-netting the gay community for front guys.

I can't really imagine any Kiwi straight blokes wanting to be made over by a pack of queens on national TV.
Why do we insist on trying to make carbon copies of hit overseas shows?

There's also talk of a Kiwi version of hit Aussie series The Block. And our own version of American Idol is already in the pipeline.

At least that show will give our young talent a chance to appear on TV. Judges being talked about for the show include RAY
COLUMBUS, TINA CROSS, ROB GUEST, JON STEVENS, CRAIG SCOTT, MAX CRYER, PETRA BAGUST, LUCY
LAWLESS, GEORGE HENARE, TIM FINN and SUZANNE LEE.
Of course, they're also looking for a straight-talking Kiwi record producer.
